Berkley born rock band, Counting Crows, has recently revealed the track listing for its really unique upcoming album, Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings hitting stores on March 25, 2008 on Geffen Records. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this amazing seven man group, probably most famous for their song, "Mr. Jones", you should pick up their greatest hits album, Films About Ghosts.

First off, the title. Adam Duritz, lead singer and piano, explains the title Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings. His rationale behind the title is that, "Saturday night is when you sin and Sunday is when you regret." For this very reason, the album is set up as a dual sided disk, Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings respectively. "Sinning is often done very loudly, angrily, bitterly, [and] violently," so the A-side of the album will have a rocking side, and then the regret will be associated with the more "acoustic-y, maybe country-ish side."

So far 3 of the tracks have been released for public listening including:
"1492" from Saturday Nights and "When I Dream of Michaelangelo" in a free Digital 45 available for download on Counting Crows

and

"You Can't Count On Me" as the new hit single from Sunday Mornings available on Amazon or iTunes

Track List:

Saturday Nights
1. 1492
2. Hanging Tree
3. Los Angeles
4. Sundays
5. Insignificant
6. Cowboys

Sunday Mornings
1. Washington Square
2. On Almost any Sunday Morning
3. When I Dream of Michelangelo
4. Anyone But You

Well, this too was a late post for our blog, but it is a rather great one!  New York DJ Mark Ronson came out with his second album in 2007 entitled, Version.  Overall the album itself is great, but we will cover that at another time.  DJ Ronson's mix is one of the best I have heard. Whether you could tell from the title, or not, this is the second consecutive week in which our blog has had a remix/mashup of a Coldplay song.  If you want to hear Mark Ronson's version of this song, then check it out on the music player provided below!

Sorry for being so late on the Single of the Week, it has sure been a busy one, and I have not had too much time to update the blog itself.  So here you go, Matt Costa is this past weeks Single of the Week.  The single is off of his January release this year, and is in my opinion, one of his best songs.  The album itself was really great, and I highly advise getting the whole album is you enjoy the single!

So this is something I have personally noticed more in this years election then in any other, how music music (and the stars of music) play such a big role in supporting candidates.  Just recently, I was surfing google, just looking to see what has been going on in the world around us today.  As I kept surfing around on the web, I came across a political music video based off of Senator Obama's speech from New Hampshire.  It is not just the speech that was so good, but the music video features many musicians and actors in favor for Obama.  I think it is great to see those musicians take their sides, and support their candidates.

It is not just in this music video that there have been shout outs to politicians.  In Common's song, "The People," (off of Finding Forever) there is a line about Obama talking to the people of America.  In Talib Kweli's song entitled, "Say Something," off of Ear Drum also gives a shout out to Obama.  I think that what Will.I.Am did by setting up this music video will not only encourage teens and young adults to vote and get interested in politics, (unlike P. Diddy's failed attempt to do so with, "Vote or Die"). Check out the music video below, and let me know what you think about it!  Definitely influential, and makes me personally want to get involved (even though I cannot).  I fully agree with what Will.I.Am and many other musicians are trying to do, and whether you are a a Republican, Democrat, or an Independent voter, make sure to voice your opinion in this upcoming election!

"Yes We Can" Music Video:

Featured In The Music Video: Jesse Dylan, Will.i.am, Common, Scarlett Johansson, Tatyana Ali, John Legend, Herbie Hancock, Kate Walsh, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Adam Rodriquez, Kelly Hu, Adam Rodriquez, Amber Valetta, Eric Balfour, Aisha Tyler, Nicole Scherzinger and Nick Cannon.

"Critical To Get Political" - Ron Paul Music Video:

I am sure you all have heard of Bruce Springsteen, and how supportive of America he really is. His music is patriotic, and can be seen as a form of I guess nationalism in the U.S.  He performed a live concert in which he spoke out against the bad parts of life in America.  The song is called, "Living in the Future," but has to do with America and life today.  Check it out and give it a listen!

While Ron Paul and Obama seem to have rather great support through their fans and music, Hilary Clinton may be lacking...Not that it is a bad thing, but check out her, "music video" if you can even call it that...

Pop music sensation Jason Mraz is coming out with yet another album in the Spring of 2008.  Mraz has been playing a ton of live music, and as of right now, certain tracks that have been confirmed by him have been also played at some of his live concerts.  The album will be called, We Sing, We Dance, We Steal.  The title sort of puzzles me, but so has his last.  I am hoping that this upcoming release by Mr. A-Z will be as good as his past releases.  Below are the confirmed tracks as of now.

Confirmed Tracks:
  • "Make It Mine"
  • "I'm Yours"
Rumored Tracks:
  • "Live High"
  • "Beautiful Mess"
  • "Dynamo of Volition"
*All These Tracks Have Been Played Live & Have Received Great Receptions From Crowds!

So, Jack Johnson has come out with yet another fantastic album in which this time, unlike his past albums, has incorporated the use of electric guitar (not just acoustic).  While it is a new style for Jack Johnson, I really do like it!  I don't really pick up on the electrics on the album as much as I thought I would, and the album itself is a great listen!  If it has not come out near you, be sure to pick it up and give it a listen, I highly recommend it!

Track Listing:
"All at Once"
"Sleep Through the Static"
"Hope"
"Angel"
"Enemy"
"If I Had Eyes"
"Same Girl"
"What You Thought You Needed"
"Adrift"
"Go On"
"They Do They Don't"
"While We Wait"
"Monsoon"
"Losing Keys"

Australian Edition:
"Home (Acoustic)"

iTunes Edition:

Who knows if this song hosted on DefSound is a single for Obie Trice's upcoming album entitled, Bottom's Up.  The song is entitled, "Detroit," and the album is not listed on DefSound.  The song has not been on any of his past albums, and this is the first I have ever heard of it...Go ahead and check it out on DefSound, as I have listed a media player below where you can listen to it.  It is a solid song, and if this is off his upcoming album, then we are all in for a great musical production from Mr. Trice.
