There are very few artists out there who are good to have featured on a lot of tracks. Certain musicians can pull off being a featured artist better then others. For example, having Lupe Fiasco on a track can often times make it better, which having James Blunt featured on a certain Hip-Hop track just won't work out. Artists like Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, Talib Kweli, T-Pain, Lil' Wayne, and Akon are all musicians that can sound great in any song, (depending on genre of course.)
On top of who is being featured on a track, the beat and lyrics of a song are also a crucial part of a good song. If you have ever listened to a very good Rap/Hip-Hop song, the main thing you will hear is the same thing looped over and over again. While you could say that this gets boring and annoying, if the beat and words they are using sound good together, and they repeat, then it can make for an amazing hit. Just look at "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" and tell me what you hear. I promise you that it was not only a catchy song, but it repeated over and over, getting stuck in peoples heads after they listened to it.
The final, and one of the most crucial parts to a good song is if the musician in the song is singing about something that relates back to what the people are currently going through. You never hear a good Rap/Hip-Hop song that is singing about living the, "easy life," or whose lyrics are about happy times. It seems like that in today's world, people only think Hip-Hop and Rap should be about, "the streets," and about "the hard times." Singing and rhyming about good and happy things is not such a bad thing, but does not appeal to most of the people in the world. The reason for this is because there is far worse situations people are in than the amount of good situations. It is a shame that the view of Rap and Hip-Hop is now focused on just, "making money, getting laid, and living the 'hood' life."
So Here Are The Key Points To A Good Song:
- Often times, you need a good featured artist on a single or track to make is successful
- Generally, when you make a song, you want it to relate to everyone, not just a select few. When your singing a song, you want to either address an issue, or sing about something that a lot of people have experienced.
- And lastly, a repetitious solid beat and lyrical flow can really make or break a song.

Helpful ideas in a singing career. Well, there is just one secret that I know for a song to be great and be felt by anyone that hears one, put feelings and emotion to every line or stanza of the song. Having a good voice wouldn't suffice at time, you have to feel what you are singing.
