For those of you who may be a bit skeptical, you really have nothing to worry about. According to the developers:
Both experts and beginners will be amazed by this innovative player. Ocarina is sensitive to your breath, touch and movements, making it even more versatile than the original. Unlike other musical applications, there are no pre-compiled riffs so musicians will find unlimited opportunities for self-expression. Advanced options allow you to choose between diatonic, minor and harmonic scales. Or channel your favorite video game adventurer with Smule's Zeldarian mode.
The applications we are now seeing are truly incredible...who knew that an application would be sensitive to breath?!?! It's like we're playing a real musical instrument on our own iPods!
Have fun with this incredible application, and be sure to download it and support the developers.

But... it ISN'T the same as in Zelda OoT... It hasn't got enough holes!
It still is quite epic, though. The simple zelda songs, like the lullaby and epona's song work quite well on it.
Maybe you could carve the extra holes into your iPhone. Wouldn't that be "quite" epic?
