Mos Def is my boy, and I love my old school rap.  I love to listen to the oldies (of rap that is), musicians that really brought the game to where it is right now!  Musicians like Talib Kweli, A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Jay-Z, 2Pac, Biggie, Big L, and so many others who without them, the rap and hip-hop industry might not be as big as it currently is.  So I was looking around on the web, and I stumble upon this video of Mos Def.  I give it a watch, and it turns out that Mos Def is challenging a bunch of rappers to a Rap battle.  I have heard of musicians doing these sort of things, (rap battles that is), but the stakes are higher for this one, seeing as their is a money buy in!  Makes the whole thing pretty darn interesting at this point.

After he establishes that he is going to dominate this whole battle, and that there is a money buy-in, he goes on and begins calling out some people.  Jay-Z, Lil' Wayne, Kanye West, Andre 3000 (?), are just some of the few rappers that were called out in the video, but if he does actually hold this rap battle, he is going be getting a ton of other people.  Now I love Mos Def, and I am a huge Ye' and Jay-Z fan (and Lil' Wayne too), but I just don't know if Mos has what it takes to take down these big-time musicians.  Then again, when he spits his game in the video, it is fairly convincing that he really knows what to do.  It will be interesting to see what happens, I am not putting any money down on anybody, and I have no idea if this battle is going down!  Check the video below, leave a comment, and let us know what you think will happen.  Who do you think should be included in this, "rap battle"?  We will for sure bring ya'll some more news about the rap battle when we hear more about it!

In Other Mos Def News...

Jay Electronica & Mos Def are teaming up and releasing an album entitled, Simpatico, and it will only contain nine tracks on the LP.  It will be really interesting to give this album a listen, especially because Jay and Mos have two very different sounds.  I like both of these musicians, so it will be interesting to see how the two of them fuse together to make an LP together.  Be on the lookout for more updates on Simpatico, and we will for sure keep a tab on our up and coming Jay Electronica, seeing as he will for sure be in the Incoming Class of '09 list in one of the next batches.  Also, check back here for more info on Mos Def and his crazy Rap Battle that he has planned.
