It's been a while since I've come at you with a "Hottest Trax You've Never Heard", so I thought it was about time to introduce you to one of my favorite indie bands: Tally Hall.  Well, maybe they're no so indie any more, they actually recently signed to Atlantic Records (Congrats guys!), but in my mind they will always be the sweet indie band of guys that wear cool ties and sound like heaven on a CD.

Tally Hall was formed in December in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and they've been truckin' ever since.  It's a shame that more people don't know about them, but Rob (yellow), Zubin (blue), Ross (grey), Joe (red), and Andrew (green) have a lot going for them in terms of musical ability.

The first time I heard of these guys was when I was at camp a few years ago, and the older kids would blast their best known song/rap "Welcome To Tally Hall".  I was instantly hooked, and picked up their album Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum.  The funny thing about this band is that Tally Hall is the name of an indoor shopping plaza in Farmington Hills, Michigan, and Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum is an arcade there (sadly it is all that remains of the plaza).  Ask SoSickWitItYo about it, he actually knows where it is!

If that history weren't enough for you guys, I wanted to finally introduce the track.  This week's "Hottest Trax You've Never Heard" is Tally Hall's Greener.  I've been listening to this track for a few weeks on repeat, and I still can't tell you what this song is really about.  It's just one of those songs that I love to listen to because of the soothing rhythms and meaningful lyrics.  Hit up that link on YouTube, and check it out.  You won't regret it!

Pick Up Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum Now!!!

So we have the rest of December to reveal to everyone who to look out for in the coming 09' year.  Well you can chalk up Chester French as someone to keep an eye on for 2009.  Right now we have four artists going on in the rotation (Charles Hamilton, Asher Roth, Big Sean and KiD CuDi), but following all those posts, we will have another four to keep an eye on for 2009!  So go ahead and check out this sick narsty song below, and we will get back at you with more information in the near future!

So I'm sorry that this is turning into the Acoustic Song of the Week, but I just love acoustic songs! This week I'm comin' at you with a song from a semi-familiar band to many of you, but a song that I hadn't heard until actually about a year ago. And yeah you can get mad at me if you've heard these songs...maybe I should rename Monday to Hot Trax You Gotta Hear! Nah, I like it this way better.

New American Classic by Taking Back Sunday is a phenomenal acoustic song that's just soothing, powerful, and unique. The first time I heard it, two brothers were doing a cover of it, and seemed to be having so much fun and really connecting on stage. I feel that we can all relate to this song, especially because of these lyrics: "See the months they don't matter, its the days I can't take, when the hours move to minutes, and I'm seconds away..." I don't know about you, but I'm always counting down to something, and it's just really annoying when you're waiting for something that its so close, but so far away (like your birthday, or that vacation, or GETTING INTO COLLEGE!!!). And we digress.

Take a second, listen up, think about it, and reminisce. If you like my taste in music, you'll love this song. Keep on keepin' on...

Yo, it's ICECrush comin' at you with this week's Hottest Trax You've Never Heard, featuring the Dilated Peoples Ft. Kanye in their song, "This Way". This song features the hot rhymes of Yeezy with the heart and soul of the Dilated Peoples. I've known this song for a while, but have never really heard it be played or anything anywhere else, so I thought you guys would enjoy it. If you love Yeezy, hot trax, sweet music videos, and especially solid musik, this is one track you've gotta have on your pod.

For those of you who know who Rise Against is, you make think, ew or yay due to the fact that they are in fact a hardcore band, and SoSickWitItYo and I generally do not like hard rock. These four guys from Chicago, Illinois though produced an INCREDIBLE track called "Swing Life Away". It is featured in many spots, one album being Punk Goes Acoustic. Yeah you guessed it, this song is acoustic and just has incredible lyrics. Songs can sound good, but really if the lyrics don't mean anything, then what's the point. It seems that these lyrics are straight from their hearts, and describe their lives in retrospect. I highly encourage you to check this song out, and to maybe learn how to play it on guitar or something.

I rate this song a 5/5 for AWESOMENESS!!!

While I was browsing the internet for hot new trax, I came across this young, poppin', suave new artist. Don't ask me how I found him, I just did. The quality on his demos aren't the greatest, but the songs are of the highest quality. From the information that I could find about this cat, he is a student at Columbia University, and plays guitar. His nicknames include but are not limited to Big Pappy, Papoose, Big Pap, Popodopolis, Pap-train, Pap, Pappyland, etc. He plays the guitar pretty well, and makes it work. As you guys may or may not know, I love acoustic guitar, and from the picture, and the songs, we can tell that he in fact does play the acoustic. That blended with meaningful lyrics equals perfection. He looks pretty cool, and sounds pretty cool too. I think you guys need to check him out.

I found two of his demos floating around online and decided to re-upload them for easy access for the blog.

The first track is titled: Dreaming of You (Download/Stream)

This song is about a person that Jeremy really misses, and he's reluctant about leaving, but has to. "I'm dreaming of you every night and day, I'm dreaming of you, and I don't want to stay". It almost seems like this is his going away song to his mom about leaving for college, but I don't exact know, I'm just taking a guess. Listen to this song, digest it, and live with it. Enjoy!


The second track, and my favorite track is titled: Century Old (Download/Stream)

This is my favorite track out of the two demos released by Jeremy Pappas. It's so warm, clever, and deep. It's not just another song, but meaningful melodic prose. Great job dude, I love you, and hopefully I can mean you one day.
