The Black Eyed Peas debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart with their latest release, THE E.N.D. Their fifth studio cd marks the group’s highest debut of their career with 304,109 in first-week sales. This is the biggest sales week for the group, outperforming their previous cd, Monkey Business, which sold 291,164 in June 2005.

“Boom Boom Pow,” the first single from three-time Grammy Award winning, multi-platinum Interscope recording artists The Black Eyed Peas, holds the #1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart for eleven consecutive weeks and #1 on the Top 40 chart for five consecutive weeks. Since its release eleven weeks ago, “Boom Boom Pow” has sold over 2,802,286 million digital downloads. In its first week of release, the second single “I Gotta Feeling” is #1 on the digital songs chart with 249,133 in digital downloads and debuts at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This is the first time any act has occupied the top two spots on the Hot 100 with songs from the No. 1 album of the week since OutKast did it on Feb. 7, 2004.

The exclusive deluxe version of The E.N.D., available only at Target stores nationwide and Target.com, includes four new songs, six remix hits and additional video content.

Rolling Stone calls THE E.N.D., “the best thing the Black Eyed Peas have ever recorded” and Entertainment Weekly raves, “pure Top 40 nirvana.” USA Today confirms “it’s booming, electrified pop with plenty of Pow” and The New York Times says, “’Boom Boom Pow’ arrives like a fusillade of punches and kicks, an onomatopoeia traveling at warp speed.”

The E.N.D. is The Black Eyed Peas’ first original new album since Monkey Business (released May 2005), with worldwide sales of more than 9 million copies. Monkey Business generated Grammy Awards for “Don't Phunk With My Heart” and “My Humps.” The Black Eyed Peas have sold over 26 million cds worldwide.

June 9th, 2009 marked the fifth installment in the Black Eyed Peas already illustrious album collection.  I am sure that you have all heard their hit single, "Boom Boom Pow," and if you haven't, then you might possibly be living under a rock (and should look into being accepted into society once again).  The LP features a lot of different stuff from the group, and when I gave the album a listen, I really got this Electronic Funk feel to it.  Kind of something you'd hear at a Bar Mitzvah party, or something like that.  It has these upbeat dance tunes that sort of put you in a trance and make even people who don't like dancing get up on their feet and, "bust a move".  While I was a huge fan of their fifth LP, I also had a lot of problems with it...

One main problem with the album was that it was boring.  All their past albums have had this sort of dance feel with less of an electronic feel to it.  Now don't get me wrong, electronic music is sick, but I don't think that it goes well their style.  This is not to say that I did not enjoy listening to the album.  I think it is great that musicians and musical groups explore different ways of creating music and getting their messages out there.  I mean it relates to what Kanye West did with his 808's & Heartbreak project.  Now it got so many mixed reviews that I couldn't tell you what the general consensus of the LP was.  I know, and I can only speak for myself, that I enjoyed the 808's.  However, when it came to listening to The E.N.D. I began trying to figure out when the end of the LP was actually coming.  I didn't hate it, but at the same time, I didn't love it.  It is great for someone to bust a move to, and to really get their dance/freak on, but other then that, it didn't really fill my musical hunger for Hip-Hop, which is what the Black Eyed Peas (BEP) is known for!

Another lacking aspect of this album was the presence of other musicians outside of the musical group.  I really love when bands throw a guest on their album, and I guess with an album like this, you can't really do that, but it was something I thought could have advanced their new musical style.  Guys like Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Q-Tip, John Legend and a few others come to mind when I think of BEP and their features.  These guys definitely could have helped advance the LP itself, and maybe could have added a little "spice and pizzazz" to the album as a whole.  Not that I am saying listening to Will.I.Am and Fergie do their thing is boring, but I love to hear other peoples works as well!  I have a hard time classifying the genre for this album, seeing as said earlier, it is a primarily Hip-Hop/Electronic/Funk sort of album sound.  I don't know if this is BEP's permanent sound, I mean the sound is not that much different from their past works, but different enough to turn me off from listening to it and giving it a grade in the "A" range.  As it stands right now, the LP is only getting a B- from me, at best a B, but nothing higher then those two grades.  The E.N.D. hit store racks today, and if you are a true Peas fan, then you need to cop this album, whether it be on iTunes, Amazon, or some corener store LP shop!  If you are not a Peas fan, and you dig electronic music, then check this album out (with the deluxe edition tracks), and I think you may fully enjoy the album for its electronic feel.  If you don't fall under those two categories, then I don't think this album is for you (but I have been wrong in the past!)

Gotta get that album... YEA...  Ah, Asher was back at it again, and I know I am a little late on this one, but Ash just tears it up on the Black Eyed Peas hit single song, "Boom Boom Pow."  Dude really knows how to tear things up, and he will be leaving his mark on the music industry for a long time.  Ash Roth definitely knows where it is at, so be on the lookout for more Freestyles, Remixes, and other tracks from him.  Peep the video below, and feel free to download the track, it is very solid!

Hot off the presses, I'd like to introduce you to the fresh 2 deff album art for the Black Eyed Peas upcoming album, The E.N.D. To be honest with you I think its incredible artwork and would love to see artwork like this from a lot of artists out there. It seems like BEP was so excited that they just had to release it as soon as possible. Will.I.Am decided to "lead" it himself!

A word from Will.I.Am:

"This is what we look like when fergie, apl, taboo, and will.i.am combine digitally..."

Well yeah...the album is, but definitely not the end of the Black Eyed Peas. I'm not sure if you guys have heard yet, but the band is scheduled for a new album drop in March. While the title The End may be a little misleading, it does not mean the end to the Peas, but actually stands for "The Energy Never Dies". The new album will be more like a music diary than a typical album if you catch what I'm saying. If not, let me put it in the words of will.i.am:

"It's a diary ... of music that at any given time, depending on the inspiration, you can add to it," the artist/producer/songwriter explains. "When it comes out, there'll be 12 songs on it, but the next day there could be 100 songs, 50 sketches, 1,000 blogs all (online) around 'The End,' so the energy really, truly never dies."

Will then goes on to discuss the fact that he's not a fan of the typical iTunes album we see today; an album that you can pick apart song by song in order to just take the hits and discard the others. Every artist puts a ton of work into each and every one of his/her songs; its a shame that so many of them go to waste in the public eye. He wants this album to work together, to tell story together, united, not little stories, divided piece by piece. The sound that you hear on this album may be a little different than you've heard before from the Peas, including much more of an electronic, dance feel. To be exact, "electric static funk".

There is currently no posted tracklist, but we do know that the Peas will be going on tour starting in May or June, so watch out for that info as we get closer to the Spring. You heard it here first (well actually probably not), but watch out for The END dropping sometime this coming March.
