Hockeytown was going crazy tonight, and they had ever right to do so!  The Wings put on a spectacular performance and and sent the Penguins back to Pittsburgh being down in the series three games to two.  What was so impressive about the game was that Detroit was massively outplayed by the Pens in games three and four.  It was surprising to see them bounce back and score five unanswered goals in Game 5.  I didn't really cover Game 4 on here, just never got around to it, so for the record, the Wings lost that one, 4-2.  You got it all in Game 5, hard hits, some big scramble for the puck, and some sick narsty goals.  This series has been better then last years, and as a hockey fan, I can really appreciate the way these two teams have battle against one another in the Cup finals the past two seasons!  Anyway, not going to take too much time on this post, just basically saying that the Wings are now one win away from winning the Cup, and the next game is going to be Tuesday in Pittsburgh at 8:00 P.M.  Be sure to check it out, and if it is a Pens win (which I sure hope it won't be), there will be a Game 7 in Detroit at 8:00 P.M. (if the Wings lose Game 6, I will hopefully try and get tickets for the final game)!!!  GO WINGS, and let's bring the Stanley Cup back to Hockeytown for a second straight year!!!

THE BEARD IS BACK... & SO WILL LORD STANLEY!!! GO WINGS!!!

You can only stay undefeated for so long... Last night marked Osgoods third loss in a Stanley Cup Finals series.  He is the current leader with the best record in Stanley Cup Finals history.  He is now 10-3 in Cup Finals games.  Last night wasn't solely his fault though.  The defense wasn't that bad either, it was all those penalties that the Wings took.  Pittsburgh scored half their goals (really two-thirds if we don't count the empty net goal) on the power play.  The Pens are deadly on the power play and the Wings need to be more weary of that in the next two games, seeing as they need to at least win one of the games to keep them ahead in the series.  I don't see the Red Wings losing at home in this series, so if they steal a win from Pitt on Saturday, I think we all know that the Wings will be the next Stanley Cup victors (again).  Anyway, last nights game was extremely entertaining, a whole lot of fun to watch and I can thoroughly say I was very entertained!  As of right now, I am trying to find tickets to buy for Game 5 in Detroit, if you know where I can get some (for a somewhat reasonable price!) let me know by leaving a message in the comment box, or e-mail me!  Let's hope for a Red Wings win in Game 4 and 5... OH, and by the way, GO WINGS!!!

And the beat goes on... The Detroit Red Wings did not seem to miss a beat coming into their second (back to back) game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.  In fact, it would appear that it was almost a deja vu game, seeing as the score was the same, and Chris Osgood made pretty much the same amount of saves (maybe one less then last game).  Osgood was pretty darn solid, at times had me worrying, but for the most part, he did his job and helped the Wings get their second win of the series.  Osgood went thirty for thirty one, and looked like a huge brick wall out there.  Justin Abdelkader has gone two for two in the Cup finals, and now has a goal in each of the games.  The Wings may be one of the older teams in the league, but their youth is definitely coming through right now, having Abdelkader, Ericsson, and Filppula score the three goals for Detroit.  It should be interesting to see if Kris Draper and Pavel Datsyuk will be making a comeback anytime soon, their presence is greatly missed.  I really don't think that there is much that the Pittsburgh Penguins can do, the Red Wings are simply just a better team, end of discussion.  The Wings are going into Pittsburgh with two wins, and will look to take two more to become back-to-back Stanley Cup champs.  Check out the highlights below!

You all know I am an avid Detroit Red Wings fan, and I will be until the day I die!  I was elated to find out that my men in red had eeked out a victory against the Chicago Blackhawks last night in OT, but what made me even happier as a Red Wings fan, and as a fan of the sport of hockey, was the fact that the Detroit Red Wings will be taking on the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Stanley Cup Finals this year.  If you don't follow hockey, then you wouldn't really care that the two teams are meeting up for A SECOND STRAIGHT TIME in the Cup Finals.  The two teams really went at it last year, and while it was an outstanding matchup, the Red Wings won the series and took home the cup, which was rightfully theirs!  It would appear that since taking the cup from the Penguins last year, they have also taken Marian Hossa (one large factor and player for the Penguins last year), and Ty Conklin (who was on the Penguin, but signed with Detroit as a backup for this season).  There is going to be a lot of high-intensity play going on, a lot of huge hits, flashy goals, and oh yes, a whole bunch of smack talk on and off the ice.  This series will be filled with emotion and heart, and I think that even people who are not fans of hockey will appreciate the hard fought series that is about to go down against these two teams.  My prediction is that the Wings will repeat (the first team to do so since they did it in '97 and in '98).  Feel free to drop a comment and give your opinion on what the series is going to be like, I would love to hear some feedback from me fellow musical sports fans.

PS. Darren Helm is the man, dude killed off a penalty last night for like 25 seconds by himself, scored a goal, and has a pretty hot girlfriend... what more can you ask for!?

The Series Should End With Something Like This...

GO WINGS!!! GIVE THEM PENGUINS HELL!!!
